The Shepherd’s Heart

Empowering and advocating for families in need

The Shepherd’s Heart is the largest faith-based food pantry in Central Texas. They provide nourishing food that makes it possible for the families they serve to be healthier and have a better quality of life. As they approach their 15 year anniversary this June, The Shepherd’s Heart continues to learn better ways to serve those coming to them for assistance. The Shepherd’s Heart is determined to make a difference for the families that they serve plus be accountable to those that support this ministry. Looking ahead, they are seeking ways to make more significant contributions for resolving food insecurity issues for more age groups. They deliver food to homebound seniors due to their vulnerability, provide food for students at seven local schools, and also have 18 mobile food distributions in food desert area — areas with limited access to affordable and nutritious food.

In 2023, Shepherd’s Heart touched over 95,474 lives, just in Waco. Through their mobile pantries, resale shop Things from the Heart and aid from volunteers in the community, The Shepherd’s Heart continues lifting people out of poverty and empowering families in need.
