Fuzzy Friends Rescue

Saving the Cats and Dogs of Central Texas

Fuzzy Friends Rescue is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter that receives over 900 abandoned and unwanted animals per year. Over the past four years, 476 animals have been pulled from the City of Waco Shelter through the Pet Intake Sponsorship Program. All animals receive; shelter, food, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and “intensive” medical care. These services are provided with help from the Waco Foundation’s Endowment Match Campaign, donations from the public and various fundraising activities such as the New Year’s Eve Barkin’ Ball, Fashion for Paws Runway Show and the 5K Zombie Run. Community Outreach is provided through programs like the SMILES Pet Therapy program that travels to area nursing homes and Reading Education Assistance Dogs (READ) that visits at-risk students at local schools to help improve reading skills.
