Friends for Life

Hope for the Generations

When Inez Russell couldn’t find an organization that offered a support system for the elderly, she started her own nonprofit. For almost 27 years, Friends for Life has been serving the elderly and people with disabilities. Their staff and volunteers help meet the needs of the community through: Independent Living, Quality of Life, Guardianship, Money Management, and Adult Day Care Programs. In Independent Living Programs, Friends for Life recruits, trains and organizes volunteers to help people live independently as long as possible. Quality of Life Programs like Gifts for Grannies & Grandpas and Friends for Thanksgiving let people know someone cares. Friends for Life offers Guardianship Services in 82 Texas counties when judges determine a person lacks capacity and there is no qualified family member willing to serve. Money Management staff intercede with creditors, help with budgets, balance checkbooks and help pay bills. The Adult Day Care provides nursing care, meals, transportation, activities, exercise and more from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday To learn more about Friends for Life — or to get involved — visit friendsforlife.org or call 254/772-7600.
