Summer’s here! There’s plenty of vendor markets and events to have fun in the sun all weekend long. Wherever you choose to explore in Waco, be sure to tag us @Wacoan and use #WacoWeekend for a chance to be featured.

 

Through the Weekend

“Sugar and Violence”

Cultivate 7Twelve, 712 Austin Ave., is proud to present the premiere solo exhibition of “Sugar and Violence” by artist Samantha Janes. The exhibition will run through June 28th.

Nick Adamo, Hotel Herringbone, Thursday and Friday at 4 p.m. 

“The Sound of Music”

The Waco Civic Theatre, 1517 Lake Air Dr., presents “The Sound of Music.” Tickets are only $25 and there are plenty of showtimes to catch with the last show being May 26.

 

Thursday, May 23

Washington Gallery Ribbon Cutting

The Washington Gallery, 715 Washington Ave., is having a ribbon cutting ceremony starting at 4 p.m.! Celebrate this new addition to the art community for free.

Family Storytime

Once school and the workday are done, enjoy some time with your favorite people at your favorite place – the West Waco library, 5301 Bosque Blvd. from 6:30—7:30 p.m.! Listen to stories, sing songs together, and maybe even play with puppets, so pop in for some fun.

Boot Scootin’ Dance Club

If you’re a cowboy, cowgirl or someone who enjoys country music and dancing, the Boot Scootin’ Dance Club is the place to be. Styles of dance include two steps, polka, waltzes and a special appearance—the chicken dance. Guests will meet at the Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson Avenue, from 7—9:15 p.m. there is a $6 cover charge.

Darts Tournament 

Clicks’ Billiards, 1200 Richland Dr., is hosting its weekly darts tournament starting at 7 p.m.

Sami Brown in Concert

Local singer, Sami Brown is performing live at Lounge ’93, 5401 Crosslake Pkwy Suite 400, from 7—9 p.m.

Trivia Night @ Brotherwell Brewing

It’s Thursday which means it’s Trivia Night at Brotherwell Brewing, located at 400 E Bridge St. Trivia is from 7—9:30 p.m. and each week covers different trivia topics. Be sure to bring a team that has a wide variety of knowledge!

Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night

With well over 100 different beers to choose from, Truelove serves up the largest craft beer selection in Waco. Grab a friend and come enjoy the fun.

Silent House Theatre Co. Gala

Celebrate Silent House Theatre Co. past season at their second annual Gala hosted at The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill, 511 S 8th St. This event will include a silent auction, raffle, performances and a sneak peek of their upcoming musical. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.

Karaoke Night at Lakeside Bar

It’s Karaoke night at Lakeside Bar & Live Music, 6605 Airport Road.! Karaoke starts at 8 p.m.

 

Friday, May 24

Carry the Load National Relay

Carry The Load’s Memorial May campaign takes place all month long to raise awareness and provide active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Come out and walk with the Relay Team as they travel through Waco on their way back to Dallas. The starting point is at Target, 5401 Bosque Blvd., beginning at 8 a.m. For more information, visit their website.

Washington Gallery Grand Opening

The Washington Gallery, 715 Washington Ave., is celebrating their grand opening to the public from 6—9 p.m. Walk through Waco’s newest gallery and enjoy art from around the country for free!

Texas Country Dance Nights

Get ready to two-step under the Texas stars at Barnett’s Whiskey House, 420 Franklin Ave. every Friday night! Texas Country Nights are here to bring you boot-scootin’ tunes, ice-cold brews, and delicious eats in a lively downtown setting from 8—11 p.m. No tickets required.

Bruce Carbonara in Concert

Bruce Carbonara is performing live at the Blue Pup Wine and Martini Bar, 2004 N Valley Mills Dr., from 8—11 p.m.

Caden Wilson with Camron Cowell

Caden Wilson and Camron Cowell are performing live at the Backyard, 511 S 8th St. at 8:30 p.m. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased here.

 

Saturday, May 25

Waco Downtown Farmers Market

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. The market features locally grown and produced goods from farmers and artisans within 150 miles of Waco, plus live music and a featured local organization each week. The market is located at the McLennan County Courthouse parking lot at 500 Washington Ave. Visit their website to view a calendar of upcoming events.

China Spring Farmers and Crafters Market

Make the short drive to China Spring for their Farmers and Crafters Market located at 301 Illinois Ave. This market is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to the public.

Yoga at YOUtopia

Relax with yoga at YOUtopia Essentials, 1701 Austin Ave., for their monthly yoga class with Nico Sparks. The class begins at 10 a.m. and tickets are $10. Please bring your own mat to this event.

Waco Uptown Art Walk

Visit the annual Waco Uptown Art Walk located at Uptown Peach, 2215 Washington Ave. to shop art, handcrafted products from local artists! This event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Spring Sangria on the Patio

Learn the history of sangria from Segovia Wine Bar, 300 S 6th St., from 1—3 p.m. This guided lesson will teach you how to make your own sangria from scratch for only $50. Tickets are limited, so purchase yours now!

Levitt Amp Music Series

Levitt Amp Music Series is back this Spring! For ten weeks listen to live music every other Saturday at Bridge Street Plaza, 200 E Bridge St. The Spring music series ends June 8.

Indulge in tiki drinks, a limbo contest and umai food truck at One Day Bar, 618 Columbus Ave., annual Tiki Night! This event is free and open to the public.

Lindsley Brothers CD Release Party

Sunday, May 26

Badass Texas Half Marathon, 10K and 5K

Be a badass and take a jab at the half marathon, 10K or 5K coming through Waco starting at Heritage Square, 311 Austin Ave.! The race begins at 6:45 a.m. and it is $44 to register. To learn more information or to register, visit their website.
