“Sugar and Violence”

Cultivate 7Twelve, 712 Austin Ave., is proud to present the premiere solo exhibition of “Sugar and Violence” by artist Samantha Janes. The exhibition will run through June 28.

“I’m Just a Girl” at 507 Gallery 

507 Gallery, located in Thrst Coffee Shop, 1500 Colcord Ave., latest exhibit is only display until May 10! This exhibit features art from Joselinne Amador. “I’m Just a Girl” is free and open to the public and you might as well grab a coffee while you look!

Nick Adamo

See Hotel Herringbone’s, 319 S 4th St., artist in residence Nick Adamo! He will be performing from 4—6 p.m. on the songbird stage on Thursday and Friday. This event is free and open to the public.

Mother’s Day Weekend

Make this Mother’s Day one to remember with a spring camping trip to Camp Fimfo, 1000 Chickadee Lane! Enjoy special weekend activities (May 10—12) that are all about mom. For more information, visit their website.

“The Sound of Music”

The Waco Civic Theatre, 1517 Lake Air Dr., presents “The Sound of Music.” Tickets are only $25 and there are plenty of showtimes to catch with the last show being May 26.

Thursday, May 9

Open Mic Night

Hit up Guess Family Barbecue, 2803 Franklin Ave., for great food, drink specials and, for the first time, an open mic night! This event is free and open to the public.

Family Storytime

Once school and the workday are done, enjoy some time with your favorite people at your favorite place — the West Waco library, 5301 Bosque Blvd. from 6:30—7:30 p.m.! Listen to stories, sing songs together, and maybe even play with puppets, so pop in for some fun.

Boot Scootin’ Dance Club

If you’re a cowboy, cowgirl or someone who enjoys country music and dancing, the Boot Scootin’ Dance Club is the place to be. Styles of dance include two steps, polka, waltzes and a special appearance—the chicken dance. Guests will meet at the Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson Avenue, from 7—9:15 p.m. there is a $6 cover charge. 

Stars Over Texas Gospel Jamboree

Head over to the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum, 2801 W Waco Dr., for the Stars Over Texas Gospel Jamboree! From 7—9 p.m., listen to live performances from artists Chris Low, Jessica Lewis and more. Tickets start at $16 and can be purchased here.

Darts Tournament 

Clicks’ Billiards, 1200 Richland Dr., is hosting its weekly darts tournament starting at 7 p.m.

Trivia Night

It’s Thursday which means it’s Trivia Night at Brotherwell Brewing, located at 400 E Bridge St. Trivia is from 7—9:30 p.m. and each week covers different trivia topics. Be sure to bring a team that has a wide variety of knowledge!

Karaoke Night at Lakeside Bar

It’s Karaoke night at Lakeside Bar & Live Music, 6605 Airport Road.! Karaoke starts at 8 p.m.

Kids College Fridays

McLennan Community College, located at 4601 N 19th St., is hosting Kids College Friday every Friday until May 17. Your kids can take culinary, arts, gardening and computer classes for $115 per month. For registration information visit their website or call 254-299-8888.

Chicago Tribute: Authority of Texas

Chicago tribute band Authority of Texas is performing live at the Waco Hippodrome Theatre, 724 Austin Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and can be purchased here.

Texas Country Dance Nights

Get ready to two-step under the Texas stars at Barnett’s Whiskey House, 420 Franklin Ave. every Friday night! Texas Country Nights are here to bring you boot-scootin’ tunes, ice-cold brews, and delicious eats in a lively downtown setting from 8—11 p.m. No tickets required.

Waco Downtown Farmers Market

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. The market features locally grown and produced goods from farmers and artisans within 150 miles of Waco, plus live music and a featured local organization each week. The market is located at the McLennan County Courthouse parking lot at 500 Washington Ave. Visit their website to view a calendar of upcoming events.

China Spring Farmers and Crafters Market

Make the short drive to China Spring for their Farmers and Crafters Market located at 301 Illinois Ave. This market is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to the public.

Dr Pepper Museum’s 33rd Birthday Bash

Community Opportunity Event

Silverware Ring Workshop

Levitt Amp Music Series is back this Saturday! Listen to live music from Rich and Fam and Cilantro Boombox at Bridge Street Plaza, 200 E Bridge St. from 5—9 p.m.

Boots on the Brazos 

Support the Arc of McLennan County by attending their annual Boots on the Brazos fundraiser, located at 100 Washington Ave. beginning at 7 p.m. This year, the fundraiser is celebrating the 70s along with live music from Holly Tucker. To purchase tickets and sponsor, visit their website.
