Music, magic and mystery are coming to Waco this weekend. Visit one of our local museums for music-inspired artwork, soar into a magical birthday celebration, and help solve a murder mystery in paradise.

Remember to tag us @wacoan and use #WacoWeekend as you show off your fun-filled weekend.

Through the Weekend

Experience the world of woodturning all weekend at the Southwest Association of Woodturners event at the Waco Convention Center. Learn the art craft where wood is cut and then shaped with a variety of tools. Doors open to vendors on Thursday and the weekend will be filled with demonstrations, galleries, and a banquet dinner on Saturday. All the information, including registration can be found here

Visit the Martin Museum at Baylor University for two special art exhibits inspired by music. “Paper Trail: Letterpress and Screen Printed Posters” by Dirk Fowler features images from music, band and concert posters and other images that reveal their message through illusion and clever visual ruses. “The Sound of Color: Art Inspired by Music” features art by Leonardo Nierman as he explores the relationship between art and music. Admission to the museum is free and the exhibits run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Welcome to the Aloha Resort of Maui, a beautiful island paradise with a Tiki Bar. The perfect getaway is shattered when someone is found dead, killed with a coconut, and everyone is now a suspect. Question the guests around you and piece together the clues to help solve the mystery. Come dressed in your best resort costume – though it’s not required – and enjoy a dinner including salad, dessert and tea, water and coffee, but BYOB. Doors open at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night. Meals are $46.60-$47.50 and you can reserve your seat here.
