Happy Mother’s Day Weekend to all of our Waco Moms! You deserve a weekend of celebration in whatever way you choose. Luckily, this weekend has plenty of activities for our moms. However you decide to spend your weekend, be sure to tag us @wacoan and use #WacoWeekend for a chance to be featured!

Scooby-Doo™ Mansion Mayhem

The Mystery Gang is in town and they need your help to solve a mystery! The Mayborn Museum, 1300 S University Parks Dr., is hosting this interactive exhibit through August 20th. Museum hours Thursday-Saturday are 10 a.m.—5 p.m. and Sunday 1—5 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets!

Escape to Margaritaville

Friday through Sunday you can escape life to Margaritaville, a musical comedy presented by the Waco Civic Theatre! Showtimes on Friday and Saturday are 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday showing is at 2:30 p.m. The theatre is located at 1517 Lake Air Dr., click here to purchase your tickets

Da’Shack Farmers Market

Da’Shack Farmers Market, located at 925 Houston St., provides fresh produce you can see cut straight from the soil. Da’ Shack offers organic produce, herbs and plants, along with occasional gardening classes and the expertise to answer all your gardening questions. The market is open from 2—6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.—6 p.m. Saturday. 

Drinking Habits 2: Caught in the Act

The Brazos Theatre, 7524 Bosque Blvd., is bringing back this religious comedy for another weekend! Showtimes for Friday and Saturday are 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. This show also includes dinner from Uncle Worm’s Texas Cuisine 30 minutes prior to the show. To purchase tickets, click here

The Waco Couch Potato Festival

Who knew couches could be an art medium? Unique, painted couches will be showcased at the first-ever “Waco Couch Potato Festival” from 9 a.m.—5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m.—5 p.m. on Sunday. These gems will be offered for sale over Baylor Graduation weekend with proceeds benefitting Creative Waco’s ARTPrenticeship Program. The festival is located between 5th and 6th Street of Washington and Austin Avenue. At the festival, there are local vendors, food trucks, live music and kids’ paint zone! This event is free and open to the public. 

 

Thursday, May 11

Caritas Golf Classic

Tee off at the Caritas Golf Classic at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course, 5201 Bagby Ave from 8 a.m.—6 p.m.. The annual tournament raisies awareness of food insecurity in the Waco community. 

Piano Happy Hour with Dave Innis

Hear Grammy award-winner Dave Innis play at Stay Classy while sipping on a drink every Thursday from 5—7 p.m.! Located at 723 Austin Ave., join Stay Classy for their happy hour piano night. For more information, visit their website.

Songwriter night with Jonna Mae, Texas Music Cafe, 7 p.m. 

Bejeweled

Waco Mom’s invites mothers to their 8th annual Mom’s Night Out. Get glitzy and glam at this evening of shopping, champagne and music at Anthem Stories from 7-9:30 p.m. VIP and general admission tickets are available.

Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night

Get your facts right because it’s Trivia Night at Truelove’s Bar, located at 414 Franklin Ave. This evening consists of 60 questions over a two-hour period starting at 7 p.m. There are plenty of chances to win free drinks and prizes throughout the evening!

Boot Scootin’ Dance Club

Dance along with live music from Bobby Dean and Timeless Country Band for only $5 at the Boot Scootin’ Dance Club! Spend your night line dancing, doing the polka, two-step, waltzes and if you’re lucky, the chicken dance. This event is at Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson Avenue from 7—9:15 p.m.

Songwriter Thursday 

The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill, is hosting its weekly Songwriter Thursday Night from 7—10 p.m. located at 511 S 8th St., this is your opportunity to share your original songs or experience someone’s first time performing. Sign-ups begin at 6 p.m.

Trivia Night @ Brotherwell Brewing        

It’s Thursday which means it’s Trivia Night at Brotherwell Brewing, located at 400 E Bridge St. Trivia is from 7—9:30 p.m. and each week covers different trivia topics. Be sure to bring a team that has a wide variety of knowledge!

 

Friday, May 12

BU Move with Keep Waco Beautiful

Baylor students: Got a lot of junk from moving out? Bring it to Vitek’s overflow lot, located at 1600 Speight Ave., from 12—5 p.m. Students can bring clothing, glass and furniture to be either donated or recycled! This event is hosted by Keep Waco Beautiful and students who donate will receive a tote, sticker, Dutch Bros energy drink and a local business coupon book.

Splash on the Color!

Kick off the Art on Elm Event a little early with Splash on the Color! The preview party is hosted at Brotherwell Brewing, 400 E Bridge St., from 6:30—9 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here

 

Saturday, May 13

Mother’s Day Run at Waco Surf

Join Waco Surf for their second annual Mother’s Day Run. This race includes a 10K, 5K, and fun run course with a free t-shirt, Waco Surf Waterpark and Beach Pass and a mimosa for 21+ participants. Click here to register for a family day of fun!

Waco Downtown Farmers Market

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. and is located at 500 Washington Ave. This market features locally grown and produced goods from farmers and artisans within 150 miles of Waco. There is always live music and a featured local organization each week. Visit their website to view a calendar of upcoming events and this week’s vendors.

Art on Elm Avenue

A pop-up art exhibit is coming to Elm Avenue Saturday from 10 a.m.—8 p.m.! The exhibit includes fine art and food. This event is free and open to the public. 

Crafts and Storytime at Texas Ranger Hall of Fame 

Bring the kids to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame’s, 100 Texas Ranger Trail, Crafts and Storytime. This month’s theme is the Science of Clues. This event is from 10 a.m.—2 p.m. and is included with regular museum admission

Art Lab for Kids

The Art Center Waco, located at 701 S 8th St., is hosting their kid art lab from 10—11:30 a.m. and 1—2:30 p.m. Art Labs teach kids a new art medium and they will take their creation home with them! Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased here

Ashley Artisan and The Flat, Levitt AMP Waco Music Series, 5—8 p.m.
