Waco Weekend – December 29 – January 1

Happy New Year, Waco! We had a lot of good times throughout 2022 and we definitely had some killer weekends. Let’s start this new year right with another weekend filled with fun, laughter and joy. Check out our list of the hottest events in Waco over the next few days to kickoff 2023 the right way.

Through the Weekend

Thursday and Friday will be the last days to catch the Lights of West, featuring over a million beautiful Christmas lights. Christmas may be over, but it’s not too late to make some lasting memories before the display is taken down. Hayrides will still be offered from 6 – 10 p.m. More info can be found on their website here.

It’s also the last weekend for Cameron Park Zoo’s Wild Lights. Don’t miss them before they’re gone. This fun and festive event goes Thursday 6 – 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6 – 10 p.m. Get your tickets here.

Thursday – December 29

Think you have the smarts to be a trivia champion? Then sign up for Brotherwell Brewing’s weekly trivia night! Bring a team, win prizes and enjoy your favorite taproom beers in this exciting battle of the brains. Trivia starts at 7 p.m. and lasts about two hours.

How’s your dart game? If you think you have a knack for it, then head over to Clicks Billiards & Sports Bar at 7 p.m. and sign yourself up for the darts tournament. There’s a $10 entry fee, but first place can win the mystery pot prize!

Friday – December 30

Donna Mari Miller, author of “Texas Secessionists Standoff,” will be at a book signing and presentation at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to see her talk about the events described in her book about the 1997 Republic of Texas “war.” Books will be available for purchase at TRHFM’s gift shop. Event is included with museum admission.

Saturday – December 31

Barnett’s is having their own New Year’s Eve celebration! This event has won Best of Waco for five years running. There will be live music, fun games and great food, all starting at 7 p.m.! Reservation required for dinner. Tickets can be purchased here for $20 in advanced, or you can pay $25 at the door.

Fuzzy Friends Rescue is celebrating 25 years of second chances at this year’s Barkin’ Ball! This gala event has been voted the Best of Waco for 14 years now and is Fuzzy Friend’s Rescue capital fundraiser, generating over 65% of the annual operating funds required to save hundreds of Waco’s abandoned cats and dogs. Tickets for single attendees or tables of 10 can be purchased here starting at $250. Event will be held at the Extraco Events Center at 7:30 p.m.

Welcome 2023 in style with Southern Roots Roaring Twenties New Year’s Eve Party! Stop by Southern Roots anytime between 8 p.m. – 2 a.m. for specialty food, drinks, a DJ, dancing, a photobooth and a toast of champagne to ring in the new year!

Casket & Cauldron is holding their own New Year’s Eve celebration in the form of a Masquerade Ball! This event will be 21+, as some of the shows will involve more mature content. There will also be a DJ, food trucks, lively music and more. It costs $25 per person to get in.

The New Year’s celebrations don’t end here! Twisted Sisters Patio Bar also invites you to their New Year’s Eve Party, this one starting at 9 p.m. and will count down to the New Year at midnight. All are welcome!

Guests of all ages are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Cameron Park Zoo! This zoo party will be filled with dancing, games and lights. Little ones are welcome to join in a New Year countdown. The countdown will be held a little early at 9 p.m., which ensures the kiddos make it home in time for bed. All guests are invited to wear their pajamas for a PJ contest! Admission costs $15 for adults and $12 for kids, with $2 off for members.
