Waco Weekend – December 8 – December 11

Although it certainly doesn’t feel like winter, we’re still just getting started with the holiday magic here in Waco. This weekend, we have a variety of fun activities, ranging from a circus troupe’s water show to beautiful Christmas light shows strung throughout the city. There is plenty to do this weekend to feed your Holiday fix!

Through the Weekend

Schedule an appointment with Stanton Studios for their Blow-Your-Own-Ornament Glassblowing Event! Choose a color and unique design, and then the materials and means will be provided to create your own beloved holiday keepsake. Ornaments are $42 and take approximately 15 minutes to create. Classes are held Friday and Saturday. Reserve a spot here today.

Friday through Sunday from 6 – 8 p.m., stop by the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village at the Mayborn Museum Complex to see the Christmas Lights in the Village. Thousands of lights illuminate the buildings in this magical holiday experience. There will also be a petting zoo, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus, food vendors and more! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here.

Cirque Italia presents “Aquatic Spectacular,” a big top water circus show! Featuring a stage holding 35,000 gallons of water, performers wow the audience with every move in their European-style show. Cirque Italia is a troupe that brings talented artists from around the world to create an unforgettable, breathtaking show. Tickets can be purchased here for shows Thursday through Sunday at a variety of times. Price varies between $10 – $50.

It’s once again time for a merry Magnolia Christmas at the Silos! All month, revel in the holiday season’s magic with family and friends while enjoying a display of twinkling lights, hot chocolate, visits from Santa, holiday shopping and more. Reserve a time to meet Santa here to make sure you have a spot!

Thursday – December 8

Michael Foley, author of “Why We Kiss Under the Mistletoe,” will be at Fabled for a book signing from 7 – 8 p.m. Foley is an international bestselling author and his new book is all about the origin of different Christmas celebrations. Some of these tales are fascinating and cute, while others are downright macabre! Stop by to meet him and get your signed copy.

You know about the Stars Over Texas Jamboree, the family-style musical jamboree, so now get tickets to the Christmas edition showing at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum! The pre-show begins at 6:45 p.m. and the curtain rises at 7 p.m. This show will feature special guest stars such as Teresa Byford, Megan Brucker, Raini Rae and Dodi Treviño. Tickets can be purchased here for $16 – $20.

Founded in 1970, Asleep at the Wheel is an American Western swing group which has been a part of the American roots landscape for over fifty years. Now, they are bringing their show to the Waco Hippodrome! Get tickets here for the “Merry Christmas Y’all!” 7:30 p.m. show to get into the Christmas spirit with their stellar performance.

Friday – December 9

Reserve Lighthouse Coffee & Wine’s special Friday Night Dinner for a delicious treat. This month it’s a cozy meal, featuring a winter-themed salad and a choice of beef filet or salmon with Béchamel sauce. The four-course chef-prepared meal costs $25 per person. Dine-in or pick it up to go starting at 4 p.m. Purchase your meal here.

Camp Fimfo invites everyone to welcome Santa from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Waco Fire Department and Waco Solid Waste will be lighting up their trucks with Santa and Mrs. Claus in tow. Take pictures with Santa, enter the ugly sweater cookie decoration contest and decorate your own wooden Christmas ornament! The event is free to the public, so come one and come all.

Saturday – December 10

Historic Waco will be hosting their annual Breakfast with Santa at the Helen Marie Taylor Museum. Stop by with your kids to get pictures with Santa and participate in educational activities. There will also be a variety of vendors to shop from. The event will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Celebrate Christmas with your pup! The H.O.T. Dog Park will be hosting a Christmas Carnival from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Booths will be available to tend to your pup’s needs, and games will be available for the whole family. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance, so don’t miss a picture opportunity. They will also be handing out snowballs for snowball fights spaced throughout the event! The Edison Marketplace will be holding their 3rd Annual Holiday Market from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This year’s market is promoting local small businesses, so stop on by the help support Waco’s growth!

Union Hall invites you to eat, shop and be merry with local crafters and small businesses at this year’s Deck the Union Hall Christmas Market! Get some Christmas shopping done then grab a meal from your favorite Union Hall restaurant. The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cha Community is always bringing holiday cheer. Stop by from 12 – 3 p.m. for a Sip & Shop BIPOC Holiday Market. This is a great way to support a local business and a great cause while getting some holiday shopping done.

Hammer & Stain invites you to join them at 12 p.m. for a liquid glass DIY workshop. For $48, materials will be provided to participants to create a liquid glass a wood project of their very own to take home! Register here and choose a project design to secure your spot. Ages 12+ are welcome.

This year, the Extraco Events Center will be hosting the first annual Startup Gala. Join community leaders, local entrepreneurs and Baylor University VIP student-athletes for an evening celebrating innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit of Waco. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Get a ticket or table here. Proceeds support the work of Startup Waco.

Sunday – December 11

Get some holiday shopping down at the Yuletide Market, presented by Waco Wellness. There will be 40 vendors, food trucks, hot chocolate and more. The market will be hosted at Skellington Curiosities from 1 – 5 p.m.

Join the Waco Symphony and Ballet Frontier of Texas for the holiday magic of The Nutcracker! With brave toy soldiers, dancing snowflakes, and the sparkling Sugar Plum Fairy, you won’t want to miss this treasured holiday tradition. The show will be conducted by Clay Couturiaux and performed by talented musicians. Tickets can be purchased here. Show starts at 2 p.m. at Waco Hall.

Interested in seeing a free Christmas concert with sing-alongs and light refreshments? Then join Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church for their Christmas concert featuring two pianists, an organist and vocalist. The show begins at 6 p.m. and all are welcome!
