“Tears of Relief”: 507 Gallery 

507 Gallery, located in Thrst Coffee Shop, 1500 Colcord Ave., has a new exhibit featuring photos made on Polaroid film. “Tears of Relief” is free and open to the public and you might as well grab a coffee while you look!

A New Moon Rises

The Mayborn Museum, 1300 S University Parks Dr., is hosting a new exhibit through April 14 filled with highly detailed photographs of the moon. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore dramatic landscapes, majestic mountain ranges, lunar poles and much more.

XOXO: An Exhibit About Love and Forgiveness

It’s your last chance to experience “XOXO: An Exhibit About Love and Forgiveness” at the Mayborn Museum, 1300 S University Parks Dr. This interactive exhibit is perfect for families and is open until January 7, 2024. Ticket prices are available on the museum’s website

Thursday, January 4

Winter Art Camp 

Start your kid’s new year with art! The camp will feature a variety of crafts, local artists and engaging art activities.  Classes are $150 for the week — click here to register.

Family Storytime

Once school and the workday are done, enjoy some time with your favorite people at your favorite place — the West Waco Library, 5301 Bosque Blvd.! Listen to stories, sing songs together and maybe even play with puppets. Be sure to pop in for some fun.

Boot Scootin’ Dance Club

If you’re a cowboy, cowgirl or someone who enjoys country music and dancing, the Boot Scootin’ Dance Club is the place to be. Styles of dance include two steps, polka, waltzes and a special appearance—the chicken dance. Guests will meet at the Sul Ross Senior Center, 1414 Jefferson Avenue, from 7—9:15 p.m. There is a $6 cover charge. 

Songwriter night with Jonna Mae, Texas Music Cafe, 7 p.m. 

Darts Tournament 

Clicks’ Billiards, 1200 Richland Dr., is hosting its weekly darts tournament starting at 7 p.m.

Trivia Night

It’s Thursday which means it’s Trivia Night at Brotherwell Brewing, located at 400 E Bridge St. Trivia is from 7—9:30 p.m. and each week covers different trivia topics. Be sure to bring a team that has a wide variety of knowledge!

Friday, January 5

Alchemy of Light Showcase

Join Cultivate 7Twelve, 712 Austin Ave., to celebrate the opening of this magnificent showcase! Steve Scott is from Waco, Texas and is an enthusiastic world traveler on the hunt for beautiful landscapes in their most perfectly lit setting. Come experience a few of Steve’s vivid images, and transport yourself through time, place, and light.

Skate Waco, 401 Towne Oaks Dr., is hosting an adult-only skate night! This event is 18+ and tickets are $10. 

Saturday, January 6

Waco Downtown Farmers Market

The Waco Downtown Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.—1 p.m. The market features locally grown and produced goods from farmers and artisans within 150 miles of Waco, plus live music and a featured local organization each week. The market is located in the McLennan County Courthouse parking lot at 500 Washington Ave. Visit their website to view a calendar of upcoming events.

Chipping of the Green 

Get rid of your live Christmas trees with Keep Waco Beautiful at their annual tree mulching event! Located at Heritage Square, 311 Austin Ave., bring a tree and leave with a bag of fresh mulch from 10 a.m.—12 p.m. This is a free event open to the public.

Baylor WBB vs. Houston 

Support the Lady Bears at their first-ever game in Foster Pavilion! They will be playing against Houston at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $20.

Improv Comedy Show

BYOB and get ready to laugh at the Brazos Theatre Improv Comedy show located at 7524 Bosque Blvd. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15.50 and are available at

Dungeons and Dragons Sunday

Join Bare Arms Brewing for a fun-filled Dungeons and Dragons campaign every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 2 p.m.! Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, all character classes are welcome to embark on an adventure. Sleep, drink, cure wounds, and repeat – it’s the perfect way to spend your afternoon!
