Top 13 Things to do in Waco this Weekend

You can expect to find Waco extra busy this weekend with the ESPN College Gameday coverage at the Baylor Men’s Basketball game, Baylor All-University SING (which is completely sold out, as per usual), the premiere of a new documentary film at the Hippodrome, and many other events! We’ve tried to narrow down the chaos for you and have made a list of the top 13 events we think you need to check out.

1. Get excited because the ESPN College Gameday crew will be in Waco this weekend! They’re covering the Baylor Men’s Basketball game against Kansas at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ferrell Center.
2. Catch Kim Mulkey who just hit 600 career wins and The Baylor Women’s Basketball team at the Ferrell Center Saturday, playing Oklahoma at 4 p.m. To find tickets, click here.
3. Do you know about Waco’s history with hip hop? If not, you will be pleased to know that the new documentary film, “Blood Sweat & Beats: The Waco Hip Hop Story” will premiere at the Waco Hippodrome this Saturday at 7 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
4. The 8th Annual Mardi Gras Ball benefitting the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children will be at the Baylor Club this Saturday. However, the event has already sold out. If you would still like to contribute to the cause in some way, check out our Giving Guide for more information!
5. Grammy award-winning Producer and Waco native Larry Griffin Jr. or Symbolyc One “S1,” will be at Dichotomy Coffee and Spirits this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the signing of his new memoir “Pray. Focus. Plan. Execute.” To learn more, click here.
6. Check out Historic Waco Foundation’s newest exhibit, “Carnival Glass” to learn about the rise and fall of the household staple. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the East Terrace House Museum. For more information, click here.
7. Susan Peters, the author of the new book UNBOUND, will be at Fabled Bookshop and Café this Thursday at 7 p.m. for a book signing and conversation about human trafficking with Detective Scaramucci from the McLennan County Sheriff’s office and Sergeant Lundquist from Waco Police Dept. 8. Baylor Theatre will present their new production “Yerma,” at the Mabee Theatre on Baylor campus. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Find tickets and more information here.
9. Get out your running shoes for the 9th Annual Bound for the Brave 5k or 10k run at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Woodway Family Center. All proceeds are donated to the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation and the 100 Club. Click here to register!
10. In addition to a basketball, the Baylor Baseball and Softball teams are also in town! Baylor Baseball will be playing Oral Roberts University this weekend, for more information on times and to purchase tickets, click here. 11. Up for a show? Head to the Hippodrome this Thursday at 7 p.m. to enjoy the Robin Williams Tribute Show with David Born. To find more information or purchase tickets, click here.
12. Treat your ears to the XV Annual Baylor Festival of Youth Choirs Grand Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Jones Hall on Baylor’s campus. As a collaboration between YouthCUE and Baylor Church Music, this is an event you don’t want to miss! For more information on the event, click here.
13. Head downtown this Saturday for the Waco Downtown Farmers Market to stock up on some fresh produce, donuts and flowers to brighten up your week from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
