Say hello to the weekend, Waco! This one will be quite the whirlwind. Waco is bringing you a few days jam-packed with events for the whole family to enjoy.

Thursday, June 1st

Cloggers and dancers and comedians… oh my! The Lee Lockwood Library will be hosting Stars Over Texas Jamboree: “Legends of Country” from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Unwind with a variety of music ranging from traditional country to bluegrass, gospel and even the Brazos Valley Cloggers! General admission tickets are only $12, senior (65 or older) and children (12 or younger) tickets are only $10 and Scottish Rite Member tickets are a mere $6. This monthly event isn’t like any other as it brings traditional Texas entertainment to life. Be sure to check out this musical jamboree!

Outdoor music festivals are simply the best, there’s no doubt about that. Marcia Ball, an American blues singer and pianist, will be playing live at the Bosque River Stage from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. as part of the first installment of the Riversounds 2017 concert series. Come out to enjoy a night of quality music and feel free to bring food, drinks, blankets and lawn chairs.

Get your popcorn and sodas ready… it’s movie night! The Silos will be hosting their Summer Movie Series with one of my personal favorite movies: “The Parent Trap.” Head over to enjoy extended shopping hours as well as the free movie, which begins at 8:30 p.m. This event is perfect for families as well as groups of friends!

Watch Disney’s best characters come to life for a spectacular ice show! The Extraco Events Center presents Disney on Ice: “Dream Big!” Performances run from June 1st through June 4th. See favorites like Tinker Bell, Ariel and Elsa from “Frozen” take to the ice as they perform acrobatics and skating tricks. Be sure to encourage your kids to dress up in their favorite Disney costumes! Tickets range from $12 to $38, depending on seat selection. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday in addition to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Friday, June 2nd

To my personal benefit and my wallet’s animosity, it’s First Friday again! I’m ready to shop, eat and socialize with the friendly faces of Waco. There is a predicted high of 90 degrees and a low of 68, a.k.a. the perfect temperature to spend roaming around downtown. Enjoy First Friday with extended hours and deals at multiple businesses. Keep an eye out for the balloons outside several businesses to see if they’re participating!

Need a few laughs and knee slaps? The Brazos Theatre Group is holding an Improv Comedy Show at Brazos Theatre which begins at 8:30 p.m. The best thing about improv is that the performance can go in any direction; you never know what will happen! General admission tickets are $12 and discounted tickets for military personnel, seniors and children are only $10.

Saturday, June 3rd

Personally, my favorite weekend tradition is the Waco Downtown Farmers Market. It gives me an excuse to try all the new treats from local chefs and famers, play with the dogs I see and listen to acoustic music as I stroll from booth to booth. I always come back home with bags full of sunflowers and organic produce. The farmers market will be open downtown from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Think you have good luck when it comes to fishing? Well get your rods and bait ready, it’s Free Community Fishing Day! Venture to Nora’s pond at the Waco Wetlands from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. as it will be fully stocked with catfish for you to catch.

Sunday, June 4th

It’s free Sunday at the Mayborn! You had me at the word “free.” The Mayborn Museum is admitting everyone in for free today (I know, it’s almost too good to be true). Explore the museum for some fun and educational exhibits from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Their current feature exhibit is SPEED: Science in Motion.

Two music festivals in one weekend? What did I do to deserve this? Thankfully, the 19th Annual Bowen MusicFest is back! The fun begins at 1 p.m. at Indian Springs Park. General admission is $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Children under 12 are admitted for free.
