This weekend we toast to years of cheesy jokes, backyard barbeques and our favorite handy men. To all of the dads, uncles, husbands and grandfathers out there, this one is for you! Spend some time with the influential men in your life by taking them to some of these awesome events around Waco.

Thursday 15th:

We are almost through the month of June, so you know what that means. The third installment of the Riversounds Concert series is from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. this Thursday at the Bosque River Stage. Go out and enjoy a night of live, fun and eclectic music from Brave Combo and MCC Faculty Jazz. So pack a snack and a lawn chair, and don’t miss out on a chance to enjoy one of the few concerts left in this series!

Need a break from the Texas heat? Head indoors to Baylor’s Theatre 11 in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center to enjoy an evening (or afternoon) of entertainment. Baylor Theatre’s summer series is kicking off with “Grand Concourse” at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, with shows at the same time Friday and Saturday. Can’t attend any of those show times? Don’t worry; there is also a show on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Friday 16th:

Calling all golf lovers! What could be a better way to enjoy Father’s Day weekend than at the Bob Lilly Celebrity Golf Tournament? Pretty much nothing. The Texas Sports Hall of Fame is hosting the tournament this Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an auction and celebrity introductions. Tee off is at 9 a.m. at the Cottonwood Country Club. Enjoy a beautiful weekend of golfing.

Who doesn’t love a good, fresh dinner at the farm? Home Grown Farm will be serving up a delicious four course meal from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Don’t miss out on the chance to satisfy your taste buds before Home Grown goes on their summer break. I guarantee you it’s definitely worth it!

This Friday and Saturday the Brazos Theatre Group will be serving a main course of entertainment with a side of mystery. Check out “Murder in Margaritaland” at the Brazos Theatre from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night for a fun evening of interactive dinner theatre.

Saturday 17th:

Head out to Brazos Park East and join the Empowerment Driven Knowledge Coalition and KWBT 94.5 The Beat as they host the 7th Annual Juneteenth Family Fun Day event at Brazos Park East. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be live entertainment, food and fun for the whole family. Join the community in celebration and appreciation of African American heritage.

Enjoy live music and support a good cause today at The Backyard! The “Rock Out Cancer” event starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Busy week ahead? Stop by the Farmer’s Market between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to unwind while you shop for fresh produce to prepare the upcoming week of healthy meals!

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame & Museum is giving you and your family the opportunity to interact with nineteenth century rangers. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., take the family to the museum for some fun conversation and the opportunity to learn more about the life of a Ranger.

Sunday 18th:

Happy Father’s Day, Waco! Take your dad, grandpa and uncle over to the Dr Pepper Museum from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. so your father figures can enjoy free admission. Step back in time to see and taste the history of the famous soft drink with dad!

Live Music Venues Include:

– The Grape
– Backyard Bar Stage & Grill
– Valley Mills Vineyard
– Melody Ranch
– Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits
– Lakeside Tavern
– Klassy Glass Wine Bar & Bistro

Give your dad a break from responsibility this weekend and let him sit back and relax. The craziness that goes hand-in-hand with fatherhood can start again on Monday.

We hope that everyone has a fun and safe Father’s Day weekend. Enjoy!
