Look out, Wacoans! If you are looking for a weekend full of live music and great food, then look no further. Waco has the perfect summer weekend for family and friends alike!

Thursday, June 8th:

Hey parents, leave the kids at home with the babysitter tonight and spend a night out at Cameron Park Zoo. “Bubbles” is a strictly 21-and-over event to help raise funds for the zoo’s aquarium. Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while you marvel at the sight of magical mermaids up close and personal to the sounds of a steel drum performer. A silent auction will be held as well. The event will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online.

It’s week two of the RiverSounds Summer Concert Series, and this time MCC will be featuring Antioch ‘Live’ (contemporary Christian music as well as praise and gospel) along with the Purple Hulls (gospel and bluegrass). Two bands in one concert; now that will be fun! Bring your friends, family members and coworkers — the event is free! Food, drinks, blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the Purple Hulls begin at 8 p.m. The concert will be held at the Bosque River Stage.

Friday, June 9th:

Going on for more than 30 years, Brazos Nights has become one of Waco’s best traditions. This free, general admission concert will be held downtown by the Brazos River at Indian Spring Park. The concert will feature the Quaker City Night Hawks at 7:30 p.m. and Tripping Daisy at 9 p.m. Waco’s outstanding food trucks and drink vendors will be open for business, so come hungry! Coolers, blankets and lawn chairs are also allowed at this event.

Prepare for night one of “Wine, Divas and Dessert” at the Waco Civic Theatre! This fabulous show provides an evening of drinking, entertainment and dessert to fundraise for the Cultural Arts Fest of Waco. Get the best seats in the house as the event starts at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday!

Calling all country music lovers! The famous country duo, The Bellamy Brothers, will be at The Backyard tonight. Come enjoy some classic country music and refreshing drinks with your friends or that special someone. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of. Hopefully you will join me two-stepping on that dance floor!

Saturday, June 10th:

Make a puff paint craft today at the Dr Pepper Museum for their June Pop-Up event! It’s family friendly and included in the price of admission, so it’s an extra treat. The event will go on from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make sure to stop by and make your craft in honor of National Ice Cream Soda Day!

The Saturday morning tradition of the Waco’s Downtown Farmers Market is always a must. Enjoy coffee, grab some weekly organic groceries and eat your way around all the stands. Head out to 5th and Washington between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to start your Saturday morning strong!

Come watch student athletes from surrounding Heart of Texas high schools leave it all on the field and court today for the annual Victory Bowl! The FCA volleyball match kicks off the annual event at University High School. The volleyball game starts at 12:30 p.m. and is followed by the 9th Annual FCA Victory Bowl football game at Waco ISD Stadium. The football players, cheerleaders, coaches and band members form “red” and “blue” teams for the football game. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. See the teams take the field and court as they play for the chance to win the title!

Join ten local authors for book signings and brunch this morning at King’s Landing! Learn more about what these local authors write about over food and witness the writing talents of Central Texas for yourself. The brunch and book signings begin at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m.

Sunday, June 11th:

This weekend will have a “Sunday Funday” indeed. Come to Lakeside Tavern for live music and drink specials before you have to return to work on Monday! Lorena’s very own Brett Hendrix Band will perform their country hits starting at 3 p.m.
