Welcome to the weekend, Wacoans! The sun is shining and there is plenty of fun to be had. Book signings, trail runs and music abound with the very first Eastside Market making an appearance! Thursday – 15
Harry Potter fans, it’s time to grab your wands and prepare to find some fantastic beasts! Download the Wizards Unite app on your phone and join in on the Wizards Unite at the Zoo event from 6-8 p.m. at the Cameron Park Zoo. Tickets cost $5 in advance and $10 at the gate. There will be food, the animals will be out and Hogwarts Houses will compete for an exclusive behind the scenes experience.
Sip some wine and shop from a variety of local vendors at Waco Winery’s Sip & Shop event. From 6-9 p.m., grab a glass and wander the Tasting Room and Rooftop Patio to see what Waco has to offer while enjoying live music from Stephany A-Chavira and Frank Exum.

Dr. Sheila Graham Smith will be celebrating the launch of her book, “Tell the Truth about Adultery: A Story of Love, Betrayal, and Hope” from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Cultivate 7twelve with a come and go book signing. Bring your own copy of the book or buy one on site for Sheila to sign, and join the Cultivate 7twelve staff for some light refreshments and door prizes.
Lights, lasers and Pink Floyd are on the schedule for the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular at the Hippodrome. This smash hit multi-media laser and light show features the recordings of Pink Floyd for a truly iconic experience. Head to the Hippodrome at 7:30 p.m. for this masterpiece of light and music. Tickets cost $26-$34.

Saturday – 17
Are you tough enough for the Tuff Enuff Trail Run? Race through the trails of Woodway Park at 8 a.m. for the third race in the Huaco Cuatro Trail Series and show just how tuff you are! A 5K and a 10K are available for whatever distance you’re feeling. The 5K costs $40 and the 10K costs $45. Join fellow runners and enjoy the beautiful trails of Woodway Park.
Weekly Mountain Bike Rides continue this week at Bicycle World Waco. Join fellow bicyclists and ride from Bicycle World Waco to Cameron Park at 8:15 a.m. for a morning ride. Call 254/300-4448 to verify that the ride is happening.
It’s shaping up to be another hot weekend, but that won’t stop the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market. Wander over to 500 Washington Ave. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to visit with the vendors, enjoy some local food and spend time in the heat.
Don’t drop the ball on the 3rd Annual Texas Sports Hall of Fame Book Festival. This annual event will feature authors from across Texas for book signings and Q&A sessions. This event takes place at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Meet the Baylor Stream Team scientists and join the team to help measure the water quality of the Brazos. The scientists will be at the Mayborn Museum from 10:30-11:30 a.m. to collect data for the global EarthEcho Water Challenge Database. Kids have the opportunity to understand the results of water quality testing, as well as talk to scientists about the field.
The place is rocking at the Waco Civic Theatre’s production of “Stars: Rockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” This event takes a stroll through the music of rock n’ roll legends such as Elvis, Freddy Mercury, Selena, Karen Caprenter and so many more. Grab your ticket for $75 and head to the Waco Civic Theatre to hear songs from your favorite rock icons. Doors open for the event at 7 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m. A VIP party will be taking place at 6 p.m. with an additional cost of $50.

The very first Eastside Market is here! The Eastside Market focuses on local vendors and helping those with creative passions in the community. The market features artists and artisans, vintage clothing vendors, food trucks, live music, craft beer, a graffiti battle and so much more. Come out and support local artists while also having a fun time. The Eastside Market will be at Brotherwell Brewing from 12-5 p.m.
