Things to do in Waco this Weekend

Happy Independence Day, Waco! This holiday weekend is filled with plenty of live music, Fourth of July events and fun for the entire family!


Throughout the Weekend

This weekend features lots of continuing exhibits at local museums and art galleries. “Be the Astronaut” at the Mayborn continues this weekend, along with the “Not Just Another Pretty Face” exhibit at the Dr. Pepper Museum. “Coming of Age” at the East Terrace Museum will be ending after this weekend, so visit it now if you haven’t already. If you’re in the mood for art, “Masters of the Martin” features work from the French artist Édouard Léon Cortes at the Martin Museum, and Ty Nathan Clark’s “Lost, Recovered and Remaining,” continues this weekend at Cultivate 7twelve.
Get ready for some fishing and join C.A.S.T. for their Haley’s Heroes Celebrity Pro-Am Bass Fishing Tournament and Banquet. This event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame with a dinner and auction and continues Saturday at 7 a.m. with the fishing tournament at Lake Waco. For more information, head to

Fourth of July – Thursday


Kick off your holiday with the Liberty Run at the MAC at First Woodway. This 4-mile run and 1-mile fun run is free for everyone, and is a great way to get up and get active this holiday weekend! The run starts at 8 a.m, water, Gatorade and breakfast will be provided. For details, visit the First Woodway Facebook page.
The festivities continue throughout the weekend with the Austin Avenue Art and Design Fourth of July Celebration. Cactus Rose, Christi’s, Titch & Burt’s and White Elephant are getting together to throw some fun events this weekend. A Sip ‘n Shop from 12-6 p.m., July 4. Artist workshops take place July 5 from 12-6 p.m. at Christi’s and Titch & Burt’s and again from 12-8 p.m. at White Elephant. And of course there’s the Fourth on the Brazos with everything you need to celebrate our country’s independence from food to live music and the always amazing fireworks show! Head on over to Touchdown Alley next to McLane Stadium starting at 5 p.m. for a Waco Fourth of July celebration. Admission is free and food and drink vendors will be available throughout the night. With all the festivities from the Fourth, don’t forget that July 5 is First Friday! The Dr. Pepper Museum will host live music, pop up vendors, giveaways and open the “Healing Water” exhibit at 4:30 p.m. Mini golf is only $5 at Putters all night, Bolt Boutique is having a party from 5-8 p.m. and Balcones has $5 daiquiris and $5 discounts on bottles with a purchase of a cocktail. There’s plenty of entertainment this weekend as well. Laugh along with the Red, White & Improv show at Brazos Theatre starting at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Spend some time browsing the Waco Downtown Farmer’s Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit a variety of vendors and grab some fresh produce, something to eat or just enjoy the day with your fellow Wacoans.
Barnett’s Public House is hosting “Drink Local. Drink Waco.” to support Keep Waco Beautiful and the wonderful work that they do every day. Head to Barnett’s from 3-8 p.m., when a portion sales will go directly to Keep Waco Beautiful. In addition, show a bartender your receipt from a local business purchase that day, and you’ll receive a free social hour bite with the purchase of an entrée.
