The Salvation Army Waco

Serving McLennan County

The Salvation Army helps individuals and families to rebuild their lives. Their emergency shelters, community kitchen, senior and handicapped apartments, inmate re-integration programs, youth activities, disaster services, food pantry, worship services and other programs help meet needs by aiding those left behind by a prospering community or affected by disaster or crisis. Case management, financial relief and educational programs identify long term pathways for independence. The Women’s Auxiliary, a volunteer arm, focuses on fundraising to support Sally’s House, where women and families with children can find shelter, meals and a path to independence. The Auxiliary also support Christmas gift programs such as Angel Tree. Their signature fundraising event, RePurpose for a Purpose, is Thursday, November 8 at the Phoenix in Waco, and exemplifies The Salvation Army message. Artists and crafters create and donate repurposed items to be auctioned at an evening of food, fun and fabulous finds all to help others repurpose their lives.
