Ending Youth Homelessness
The Cove is a nurturing drop-in center serving high school-aged youth experiencing homelessness. Last year, 224 Waco ISD high school students were in living situations so unsafe and unstable that they had no place to call home. The Cove is a safe space to access showers, a washer and dryer, family-style dinner, supportive case management and educational programming. Perhaps more than that, The Cove is a place for students to belong. The Cove will be open again this summer Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., providing free lunches and relational support. Statistically, only one in four Texas youth who experience homelessness will go on to graduate high school. This year, five out of six 2020 seniors utilizing services at The Cove graduated in May.
