The Jewel of Woodway
Nicknamed the “Jewel of Woodway”, the Carleen Bright Arboretum extends over 16 acres of botanical gardens, nature trails, meditation gardens and more.
Since its opening in 1997, the Carleen Bright Arboretum has grown into a space celebrating nature, conservation, tourism and community gathering. The space’s award-winning gardens make it a popular spot for field trips and educational camps focused on gardening, biology and environmental science. Children in these programs are invited to engage and connect with nature, aided by the Arboretum’s wide array of gardens and helpful staff.
The Arboretum was created as a place for guests to connect with nature, learn about the world around them, engage with art and experience local history. On its grounds are botanical gardens, native woodlands, the Massey Meditation Grove and the Todd Willis Nature Trail. Their commitment to conservation and education runs deep; they even have a registered monarch waystation, ensuring that these endangered butterflies have a dedicated stopping point in Waco.
They aren’t just a place to connect with nature; the The Arboretum is also dedicated to community gathering and history. On its property is the Whitehall Center, a replica of the first church in the Woodway area. This space is open for community gathering and events, including the Woodway Farmers Market and Arbo Fest!
