Waco’s Own Born and Bread
In 1975, Schmaltz’s Sandwich Shop opened right here in Waco, Texas. Today, there are now two stores for Wacoans to enjoy — one on Valley Mills Drive in Townwest Center and the other in Downtown Waco on 5th Street. Schmaltz’s has enjoyed a long history with Waco and its many customers. Many second- and even third- generation customers continue to support this Waco tradition. In addition to its great variety of sandwiches made on Schmaltz’s own freshly baked artisanal breads, the two shops also offer delicious soups and salads. The owner, Nelson Rue, invites all his loyal customers, as well as new friends to come by for lunch or dinner. Downtown Schmaltz’s is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Townwest Schmaltz’s is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
