Methodist Children’s Home

Offering Hope Since 1890

Founded in Waco in 1890, Methodist Children’s Home (MCH) has grown from an orphanage into a nationally accredited childcare agency with the mission of offering hope to children, youth and families in a nurturing, Christian community. MCH serves youth through our residential programs on both the Waco campus and the MCH Boys Ranch. Our Waco campus on Herring Avenue sits on 130 acres next to Cameron Park, while the Boys Ranch is located in a countryside setting in nearby Axtell. Each location is unique in its offerings, but together provide a caring, education-focused community designed specifically to meet the needs of the children in our care. While most children in our residential programs are ages 10-18, exceptions may be made for younger children to keep sibling groups together. The majority of youth in our residential programs attend a school located on our Waco campus, which is affiliated with the University of Texas — University Charter School system. MCH is deeply rooted in Waco, but the impact of this organization is felt far beyond Central Texas. In 13 communities across Texas and New Mexico, MCH Family Outreach offices offer in-home and community based services designed to strengthen and unify families. These services may include foster care, in-home case management, parent education and support for grandparents and others caring for children. Through all our continuum of services, MCH serves more than 5,000 individuals each year. MCH is blessed to continue its legacy thanks to faithful support from the Waco community.
