In its 83rd year, Johnson Roofing is a full-service roofing company, serving residential and commercial customers in Texas, primarily on the I-35 corridor. Sherri Johnson McDonald is the third-generation president and CEO of the company, following her dad, Bill Johnson, and his parents, Margaret and Jack Johnson.
In 2015, Sherri took the reins at Johnson Roofing, following her family’s example. Christian values and excellence have been the foundation since its beginning.
Sherri says the examples set by her family prepared her to run Johnson Roofing. “Our company tagline, ‘Pursuing Excellence,’ sums it up,” she said. “Whether it’s roofing or horse competitions, I was taught to do everything to the very best of my ability.”
Last year was a landmark year for Johnson Roofing. Under Sherri’s leadership, the company achieved International Quality Standard ISO 9001/2015 Compliancy and saw the highest sales volume in the company’s history.
Ranching, horse competitions and auctions have been a huge part of Sherri’s life. She grew up teaching horseback riding and competing on her Appaloosas. Her dad was a premiere horseman in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, winning the championship trophy at the National Cutting Horse Futurity. Sherri continues to compete in team roping, cutting and ranch sorting.
Family is everything to Sherri, and the Johnson Roofing team is family to her. The company’s corporate office is adjacent to the Johnson family ranch southeast of Waco. This property makes for a family atmosphere because Johnson Roofing is a family of over 100 team members and subcontractor partners.
When Sherri is not working or competing and winning a world championship in ranch sorting, she spends time with her personal family including her quadruplet granddaughters. And yes, Sherri is doing her part to instill Christian values and excellence in the hearts and minds of these four young girls.
