Changing the Way Foster Care Begins
When children are removed from their homes for their safety, they are often taken to a child welfare office to wait for placement. This wait can last anywhere from a few hours to several days. During this time, children are often scared, hungry, and arrive with very few belongings—through no fault of their own.
Isaiah 117 House provides emotional and physical support in a safe, loving, home environment. Here, children are welcomed by caring volunteers who provide clean clothes, warm meals, toys, and cozy blankets. This comforting space allows children to receive the care they need while child welfare staff focus on finding the best possible placement. Isaiah 117 House also helps meet immediate needs of the placement to make each transition as smooth as possible.
The mission of Isaiah 117 House is threefold: to reduce trauma for children awaiting placement, lighten the load for child welfare workers, and ease the transition into placement.
As of March 2026, Isaiah 117 House—headquartered in Tennessee—has 66 locations, with 39 open homes across 13 states. Each home depends on the support and commitment of its local community to continue serving children in need.
McLennan County, Texas, opened its red door on June 15, 2024. Since then, they have had the privilege of serving more than 500 children waiting for placement.
