Inspiring a Love of Reading
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails one free, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth until their fifth birthday. The program inspires a love of reading and learning during a child’s most formative years, helping build a strong foundation for school success.
Imagination Library of Waco is the local affiliate responsible for enrolling children and supporting the program locally, now in partnership with United Way of Waco-McLennan County. Books are selected by early childhood literacy experts, and research shows participation is associated with gains in early language and math development.
Locally, the program serves more than 2,000 children each month across seven ZIP codes and has delivered more than 85,000 books since 2021, with plans to expand and reach more children in the years ahead.
