Hewitt Public Library

The New Norm

The Hewitt Public Library is an active community hub encouraging personal enrichment, meaningful collaboration and content creation. The HPL provides a variety of activities and civic engagement functions in addition to information access. A leader in early childhood literacy programs, they are designated a National Family Place Library. HPL also continues to focus on the maker movement. Sarah Miller, program coordinator and teen librarian, incorporates weekly educational programming through the Maker Meet-Up club. Maker Meet-Up is informal, fun and provides a different experience every week. Creation reinforces learning and sparks innovation, builds problem-solving and collaboration skills, empowers the maker and fosters a community around education. Libraries have always been hubs of self-directed learning and the addition of the maker movement is just part of the amazing things offered at HPL.
