Helping the Elderly & People with Disabilities Live the Fullest Life Possible
In response to COVID-19, the team at Friends for Life regrouped to provide additional care for homebound elderly. They implemented a Shop & Drop Program, recruiting and organizing volunteers to shop and deliver food, medicine and supplies to the porches of homebound seniors. They expanded the Telephone Reassurance Program to call, comfort and care for a much larger number of homebound who were isolated, afraid and lonely. The state required that the Adult Day Care Center stay open. They are following the state regulations for social distancing, masks, etc. Money Management continues its services and the Guardianship program received court approval for virtual visits to clients as they are unable to visit face to face. When the team learned nursing home residents are confined to their rooms, they began making thousands of cards to let them know someone cares. For more information, call 254/772-7600.
