Love Shouldn’t Hurt
One in three Texans will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Family Abuse Center was founded in 1980 with the mission to eliminate domestic violence in Central Texas by aiding victims and preventing abuse through intervention and education. Every step of the way, Family Abuse Center staff and volunteers help survivors gain and maintain independence in a violence-free life through case management, counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services and housing programs plus a 24/7 crisis hotline and emergency shelter.
In 2025, Family Abuse Center provided critical support to individuals and families across Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone and McClennan counties. Their team responded to 3,340 hotline calls, offering immediate guidance and safety planning. They sheltered 381 survivors and served an additional 342 nonresidential clients. They reinforced their commitment to immediate cate and long-term stability by providing 8,314 meals and 14,740 nights in safe beds. Through 612 hours of counseling and 691 hours of legal advocacy and 207 community members trained, they empowered survivors with the tools and support necessary to rebuild their lives.
