Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence
In Texas, one in three women will be affected by domestic violence in their lifetime. Family Abuse Center was founded in 1980 with the mission to eliminate domestic violence in Central Texas by sheltering victims and by preventing abuse from occurring through intervention and education. Every step of the way, the staff and volunteers support survivors in overcoming trauma and abuse by helping them gain and maintain independence and a violence-free life. To fully serve their clients, Family Abuse Center offers a 24/7 crisis hotline, safety shelter, case management, counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services and housing programs. From budgeting tools to healthy parenting skills, Family Abuse Center uses practical resources to educate and share information necessary to end the cycle of domestic violence.
