Candidate, Texas House of Representatives District 56
Erin Shank is a lawyer, a mother, a Veteran’s wife, and owner of two small businesses here in Central Texas. Erin believes new, fresh leadership is needed in the Texas House of Representatives in Austin. As an attorney, she has represented Texans for almost forty years and wants to take those representation skills to bring our hard-earned tax dollars back to McLennan County. The current representative has held this seat for 18 years and has twice been awarded the “Furniture Award” by Texas Monthly which defines recipients as those who, “by virtue of their indifference or inactivity, were indistinguishable from their desks, chairs, and spittoons.” Erin believes that is no longer acceptable to the voters of McLennan County. “I am running for the Texas House because I believe that all Texans deserve a safe place to live, strong infrastructure, good schools, access to affordable health care and the opportunity for a good job.” Her main areas of focus include bringing local tax dollars back to McLennan County, fixing the grid, education, getting internet access to our rural communities and advocating for the rights of women, children and the disabled.
