Brazos Education Foundation

Providing Affordable Access to Higher Education

he Brazos Education Foundation has 12 new Brazos Scholars studying at 10 different post-secondary Texas schools this year. Since the first Brazos Scholar in 2010, over 70 students have been supported on their academic journey. The foundation began as the brainchild of Murray Watson, Jr. and the board of Brazos Higher Education Service Corporation, Inc. who decided to give back by helping area students go to college and succeed. It’s currently under the leadership of Watson’s daughter, Milicent Watson Larson. The foundation’s winning combination is renewable scholarship and textbook funds, emergency money, semi-annual trainings and individual mentors. Over two-thirds of the Brazos Scholars are first generation college students, and they’re blazing trails for their friends, siblings and family members to follow. This year’s eighth annual Education 4 Everyone Golf Tournament will be Monday, October 23 at Ridgewood Country Club. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a 1 p.m. tee off. Proceeds will help fund renewable scholarships. Sponsorships are available by calling David Horner, 254/744-2396.
