The pulmonologists at Ascension Medical Group Providence Lung Clinic have long been providing care for critically ill patients in the ICU at Ascension Providence. This team has been at the forefront of caring for hospitalized COVID-19 patients, in addition to treating inpatient and outpatient pulmonary disorders like COPD, asthma, emphysema, lung tumors and other respiratory illnesses. They are trained in advanced lung procedures including robotic-assisted technology offering less invasive lung biopsies to help diagnose and treat lung cancer. The team participates in a tumor board which takes a multidisciplinary approach to lung cancer treatment. They also treat severe asthma with bronchial thermoplasty, helping minimize the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. Endoscopic lung reduction is used to help patients with emphysema breathe easier. And the placement of fiducial markers may be used to improve radiation treatment for lung tumors. This critical care team also provides on-site care in the ICU 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Ascension Providence.
