The 100 Club Heart of Texas provides support to the surviving families of McLennan County first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty. The Club seeks to support the first responder community, ease the financial burdens on families left behind and raise awareness of sacrifices made by public servants. Established in 2012, 100 Club of Heart of Texas has provided support for first responders for over 10 years. They raised over $70,000 for the families of firefighters killed in the West fertilizer plant explosion in 2013. In 2018, they purchased a new electric wheelchair for former Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper, Daniel Shown, who was injured in the line of duty. In 2022, the 100 Club established an academic scholarship at McLennan Community College for children of first responders who died in the line of duty and recently, the Club established an endowment fund to sustain the Club’s support for first responders. Through membership and donations, the 100 Club of Heart of Texas provides support to over 2,400 law enforcement officers, firefighters, jailers and emergency medical responders in McLennan County without cost to them or their agency. The 100 Club offers four annual membership levels for individuals and businesses. Members receive vehicle window decals to show their support and invitations to Club events. The 100 Club will host their 5th annual First Responders Benefit on April 27 at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum. Table sponsorships and individual seats are still available.
