Easy Breezy Outdoor Style

Coastal dress summer

The warm sun will soon beat down on our shoulders, creating tan lines and freckles, and I’m sure you’re trying to remember where you stored your sandals and tank tops as the temperature increases. While we long for shaded oases only to remember that the closest body of water to us is Lake Waco, that doesn’t mean you can’t dress in coastal-inspired style. These bright blues and yellow dresses are sure to stand out at your summer activities, including your dinner plans at one of Waco’s many outdoor dining spots.

While we may not have the East Coast nearby, Waco does have coastal-inspired establishments such as Opal’s Oysters. Opal’s outdoor patio features bright yellow umbrellas, black-and-white fabric awning and navy-blue accents, which inspired us to create these looks. The parasols are represented in the Blu Pepper Ruffled Dress, though don’t be fooled by the name; the dress is a golden yellow. Its light fabric is comfortable for those hot Texas summers, and the warm tone of the fabric gives the model an illusion of a tan. The cinched waistlines create a flattering A-line shape, and its stretchy material provides comfort.

Although the word “ditsy” has a negative reputation, the Ditsy Floral Dress does not. Its lace neckline screams “Put me next to a body of water,” especially when you pair it with The Royal Standard sun hat. The delicate floral pattern is complemented by the ceramic chinoiserie charms that are having their moment.

You might remember the “Coastal Grandma Summer” trend, but we certainly haven’t forgotten. This classic style includes the little details like scalloped edges, ribbon-tied bows, lace-lined necklines, gold jewelry and strings of pearls, which is exactly how I’d describe the Le Lis Halter Dress. The pastel yellow gives the model a natural glow, and its embroidered floral details create a soft and sophisticated look.

We paired my dress, the Pinch Maxi Dress with white trimming, with statement earrings featuring specks of cobalt blue to match and a delicate pearl bracelet is the right amount of quiet elegance. The thin ribbon ties and flowy skirt create a nice relief from those scorching summer days.

All of these bright colors are a perfect reminder that summer is here and it’s OK not to wear neutrals. But for those who can’t stray from the neutral palette, grab the Black Maxi Dress with scallop detailing. And don’t forget to top it off with The Royal Standard sun hat with a black ribbon. This was the hat of our dreams, and it will be a fundamental accessory for this summer.

For final looks, we focused on pulling gold jewelry with pearl accents to tie them together. Since most of these dresses had an open neckline, we experimented with layered necklaces, and they did not disappoint! Charms have also made a comeback, so we included charms with bows, ceramic hearts and shells in the necklaces and bracelets. The accessory we were most excited to feature was the sun hats. We just couldn’t resist the ribbon and tassels, and they serve a purpose by protecting your skin. These hats will keep the sun out of your face and hide your windswept hair while elevating your outfit simultaneously.

So, the next time you approach the host stand at a restaurant, request a table on the outdoor patio, and don’t forget to snap a few pics and channel your inner coastal girl.
