Book Sale Donations
Ongoing, September : Drop-off gently read books, DVDs, CDs and more at all six area H-E-B locations and local libraries. Each H-E-B has a marked bin for collections. Items will go to the Friends of the Waco-McLennan Co. Library Book Sale held in November.

CARING CUP GOLF CLASSIC
Sept 10 (Thurs, Cottonwood Creek Golf Course) : Mission Waco’s annual “Caring Cup” golf scramble begins at 1 p.m. A pre-scramble “Pastors’ Shootout” at 11:30 a.m. allows local pastors and a partner of their choice to compete for prizes. Cost is $50 per player for the shootout; $125 per player for the scramble.

Try It on for the Cure
Sept 13 (Sun, noon to 6 p.m., Coldwater Creek) : Coldwater Creek will donate a dollar for anyone who tries on any item. They will also donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Central Texas Affiliate. There will be a fashion show, a speaker and board members to answer questions about breast cancer.

Sexuality Education in Texas Public Schools

Sept 17 (Thurs, 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Texas Annex Building) : Hosted by Planned Parenthood of Central Texas, come hear a report on what is taught in Texas’ sex education classes. Guest speaker, David Wiley, Ph.D., is a lifelong educator in the field of adolescent health issues. A $10 fee includes lunch and a fast-paced, fun presentation. RSVP by Wednesday, September 16.

Breast Cancer Survivor Celebration
Sept 17 (Thurs, 6 to 8 p.m.) : This is a quarterly event for fellowship and networking for breast cancer survivors and their families. Held at the Region 12 Education Service Center, the celebration includes a light dinner. Dr. Asea, breast cancer researcher from Scott & White, will provide a brief program.

Sept 19 (Sat, noon to 5 p.m., Dogtopia) : Treat your dog to a bath any time Saturday afternoon to support a local team participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research. Providence Champagne Luncheon and Style Show
